This article explains how to change the provider that processes a payment method in RaiseNow Hub, and what happens to your existing Touchpoint Solutions and subscriptions when you do.
Overview
If you have connected more than one payment provider that supports the same payment method, you can choose which provider processes it. Currently, this applies to Card, which you can process via Stripe or PayPal.
You might switch, for example, when another provider offers better fees. You can compare fees under Fees and conditions.
The provider you select is the default provider for that payment method. If you don't select a payment provider, the first connected provider that supports that payment method is set as its default.
|
Note: You can only switch providers if both are connected to RaiseNow Hub and both support the payment method. To connect a provider, see Connect Stripe with RaiseNow Hub or Connect PayPal with RaiseNow Hub. |
How it works
Switch the provider
Log in to RaiseNow Hub.
-
Go to Settings → Payment setup → Payment methods.
Select Card.
-
Check the current provider shown in the details view and click Change provider.
-
Select the new provider.
-
Read the information in the confirmation window and click Confirm change.
What happens after you switch
Using the example of switching Card from PayPal to Stripe:
| What happens | |
| New Touchpoint Solutions | Use Stripe for card payments. |
| Existing Touchpoint Solutions | Keep using PayPal until you publish them again. |
| Updated Touchpoint Solutions | Once you update and republish a Touchpoint Solution, live transactions are processed via Stripe. |
| Existing subscriptions | Stay with PayPal. They continue to be processed and paid out until they end. |
The same applies in the other direction (Stripe to PayPal).
|
Note: If you duplicate a Touchpoint Solution after switching, the copy uses the new provider. The original stays on the previous one. |
Other payment methods stay with their provider
Switching the provider for Card does not change the provider of your other payment methods. For example, you can process Card via PayPal and Google Pay or Apple Pay via Stripe.
Subscriptions
Existing subscriptions are not moved to the new provider. They continue to be charged via the provider they were created with, until the donor updates their payment method or the provider blocks the payment.
New subscriptions created through a Touchpoint Solution that has been republished after the switch use the new provider.
