Using the Digital Terminal for instant TWINT payment confirmation

This article explains how you can receive instant payment confirmations for in-person TWINT payments using the Digital Terminal. With this feature, you can turn your mobile phone or tablet into a payment terminal. No additional hardware or app required.

Overview

We want to make collecting payments as simple and efficient as possible. That’s why we developed the Digital Terminal. It allows you to receive real-time payment confirmations directly on your own device when collecting payments in person—perfect for events, fundraisers, or on-site activities.

Think of it like a classic card terminal you’d see in shops, but running directly in your browser. There’s no need to install an app or use external devices.

How it works

Before the event: Prepare the Digital Terminal

1. Create a TWINT Payments Touchpoint Solution.

2. Select custom amount as the amount option.

3. Adjust any additional settings as needed.

4. Click Save → Publish form.

5. Go to Promote.

6. Scroll to Digital Terminal: Instant payment confirmation.

7. Click Download to get the Digital Terminal instructions PDF in your preferred language.

8. Share the PDF with your team or print it for volunteers at the event.

The PDF contains the link and instructions needed to use the Digital Terminal.

During the event: Receive payments

1. Open the Digital Terminal link on your mobile phone or tablet by:

   • Scanning the QR code, or

   • Entering the link in the browser

2. Enter the total amount to be paid.

3. Click Make payment.

4. Show the generated TWINT QR code to your supporter so that they can scan it with their TWINT app. 

5. Wait for the payment confirmation on your own device. 

6. Once the transaction is successful, you can start a new payment by clicking on the button at the bottom.
