In the standard setup it is included that our RaiseNow Widgets send out confirmation emails to the donors to confirm the successful payment.
The text and wording of these emails follow our default settings unless we customize them according to your wishes. In RaiseNow Growth and Flex contracts the customization is included in the setup.
Now once the widget is setup and the texts for the confirmation emails have been defined, you will want to test if the wording is correct, that they are delivered correctly to the donor and eventually, if we have setup a BCC address, if you receive a copy of these confirmation emails.
How can you test the emails sent by your widget?
To start testing you should be aware of two things:
1. Which Event triggered the webhook to send the email?
2. Which Payment method was used?
Different types of emails
The widget sends out different emails based on the event that triggers the webhook and the payment method used for the donation:
One-time payment | Payment methods | Credit card, Paypal, Twint, PostFinance, Sofort | Payment slip | Direct Debit |
Event | ||||
Transaction Status changed to final success | Email for confirmation of payment | Email that contains PDF link /confirmation that the document will be sent | Email that contains PDF link /confirmation that the document will be sent
Recurring payment | Payment methods | Credit card, Paypal, PostFinance
Event | ||||
Subscription subscribe | Email to confirm signing up for the subscription
Subscription charge | Email to confirm a charge (sent out every time the subscription is charged)
Subscription charge error | Email to inform that the charge was not possible
Subscription renew | Email to confirm that the subscription has been updated
Subscription cancelled | Email to confirm that the subscription has been cancelled |
If you want to test the email delivery and check the text, we recommend making a test transaction. You can find out how to test the different payment methods here. With the test credit card data you can also set up a test subscription to test the subscription related emails.
Once you have successfully created a test transaction and the webhook has been fired to trigger your email, you don't need to make more test transactions to test the same event - you can just retrigger the event via the RaiseNow Manager. (You will need to have Merchant Admin rights to see the section)
To trigger the event again you need to know the Transaction ID of your test transaction. In the RaiseNow Manager go to Actions & Events > Actions and search for your transaction ID in the search bar.
Find the correct event as described above and click on it - it will open the details of the action. Now click on the "Actions" button in the top right corner and click on "Retry":
This will trigger the event once more and the email will be sent again. Updates in the texts will still be reflected as the email texts are always fetched directly from the widget configuration.
You can also check if the email was delivered correctly. FInd out more here.
If, after receiving the email you still need to modify the wording, just reach out to support@raisenow.com and send us a text document with the current text and your texts with your changes. Please bear in mind that we send out plain text emails that can be rendered differently by different email services.
Widget type
Currently we are supporting two Widgets: LEMA and TAMARO.
For the TAMARO Widget please follow the steps above and check the email in your inbox.
For the LEMA Widget it is also possible to check the texts without having to make a test transaction. Find out more here.
If you wish to find out more about how you can customize your emails and send them by yourself via Mandrill you can check out this article.
