Some payment methods from RaiseNow Manager are not supported in RaiseNow Hub. This means certain subscriptions will not be migrated and will need action – either from your organisation or from your supporters.
This article explains what happens with these subscriptions, what your supporters will experience, and how you can guide them through the transition.
PostFinance subscriptions
- PostFinance is not available in RaiseNow Hub as PostFinance has announced the discontinuation of PostFinance Card and PostFinance E-Finance. (Find more information here.)
- Subscriptions that use PostFinance will not be migrated and will be cancelled on your organisation’s defined end-of-life date for RaiseNow Manager.
- Your supporters will receive an automatic cancellation email from RaiseNow informing them of the change.
No further payments will be processed after the cancellation.
PayPal subscriptions
- PayPal subscriptions will not be migrated from RaiseNow Manager to RaiseNow Hub.
- These subscriptions will continue running independently on your organisation’s PayPal account.
- There will be no RaiseNow fees for these independent subscriptions. Only the regular PayPal transaction fees will apply.
- RaiseNow will no longer handle:
- Confirmation emails
- Donation receipts
- Subscription updates or cancellations
- Donors will need to manage their subscription directly through their PayPal account.
- Please get in contact with PayPal directly if you have any questions regarding the independent subscriptions.
Please note: If you want your PayPal subscriptions to run in RaiseNow Hub, you need to follow the steps below and ask your supporters to update their payment method and reauthorise their PayPal account for use in RaiseNow Hub.
Letting supporters update their subscription
If you want your supporters to keep donating, you can now proactively contact them and ask them to update their payment method using a dedicated Subscription Edit URL.
This link is available for all recurring donations set up with RaiseNow Manager payment methods, including PostFinance, PayPal, and credit cards. This is especially important for PostFinance, as those subscriptions will be cancelled and cannot continue unless updated.
We recommend sending the Subscription Edit URL to affected supporters by email. This allows them to:
- Update their payment method to one supported in RaiseNow Hub (e.g. TWINT, Stripe, credit cards)
- If your credit card payment method has not yet been switched to RaiseNow Hub, supporters can still update their subscription to use a credit card in RaiseNow Manager. In this case, the updated subscription will be migrated to RaiseNow Hub together with the rest of your credit card subscriptions at a later stage.
Or cancel the existing subscription and create a new one using your updated donation form
How to create and share the Subscription Edit URL
To help your supporters update their recurring donation, follow these steps to find and send them their personal Subscription Edit URL:
- Log in to RaiseNow Manager and go to the Subscriptions section
- Export all active subscriptions and include at least the following data:
- Email address of the supporter
- subscription token
- (stored_rnw_source_uuid)
- Generate the Subscription Edit URL for each subscription using the following format:
www.yourorganisation.org/donate?subscription_token=<token>
- We recommend using the URL of your live donation page where the Tamaro widget is embedded. If you do not have a hosted widget URL available, you can also use the demo link format:
https://tamaro.raisenow.com/<stored_rnw_widget_uuid>/latest/index.html?subscription_token=<token>
- Send one email per subscription to the email address of the related supporter.
Please note: The Subscription Edit URL will no longer work if:
- The subscription has been deactivated
- The merchant configuration or ID has changed (e.g. legacy Lema cases)
- The associated Tamaro widget no longer exists
