A donor that starts a donation subscription via one of RaiseNow's widgets receives a link in their thank you email where they can edit their subscription.
How does the link work?
the link consists of three parameters:
- website where the widget was used to subscribe
The token iis the string of letters and numbers you see on top of a subscription page in the RaiseNow Manager. It is also specified undertechnical details > token.
Example for a Link to a subscription edit page:
The website that is opened now should load the widget and then shows this view to the donor:
Note: Currently it is not possible in the Lema widget to edit the payment method PostFinance
The donor can only resort to ending the subscription and starting a new one.
Credit card data can be changed.
Sometimes it happens that the webpage where the first donation was made does not exist any more, has been moved to a different page or that the widget loads on a subpage and is not accessible. This results in a faulty link that does not lead the donor to edit their subscription.
Defining a dedicated page to edit subscriptions
To make sure the donor always gets redirected to an existing page you can define a page where the widget loads and is directly accessible. Once that page has ben created you can let the Customer success team know and we define the URL to that page in your widget. This way every donos that has a donation subscription will be directed to this page to edit their subscription details and there is no risk of directing them to a faulty link.
How does it work?
The above mentioned parameters are attached to the URL you defined and if the widget is embedded in this page it then opens the subscription edit view for the respective donor.
By defining your URL in the widget code the widget attaches the parameters to your URL instead of our default setting (take the site where the donation was created). This way it is ensured a donor can always end their subscription or renew their credit card details if they need to.
